Their plans were selected as the most promising sites for the development of a wind farm in Genne/Haerst. Several set-up variants met the province's set conditions and selection criteria and scored better than other submitted plans.
“This decision by the province is a huge boost for our cooperative. It shows that local, sustainable energy projects developed together with and for the local area can really make a difference,” indicates chairman Miranda Peer.
This recognition gives the cooperatives the green light to start the exploratory studies needed to obtain the necessary permits. This marks an important step in the further development of renewable energy generation in the region.
In the coming period, the plans will be further elaborated and local residents, stakeholders and members of the concerned cooperatives will be actively informed and involved in the process.
“We look forward to taking the next steps together with residents, landowners and other stakeholders,” says Miranda Peer. “Only by working together can we ensure a wind farm that not only generates energy, but also adds value to our community.”
