A sustainable balance
In recent years, a balance between support and cooperation with the municipality of Steenwijkerland has been sought. Because the municipal council initially opted for solar energy, Coƶperatie Steenergie took its responsibility by applying for a permit for solar farm De Hoop in Blokzijl. At the same time, the cooperative continued to believe in the potential of large-scale generation through wind energy, at locations that are efficient in terms of infrastructure and energy consumption, LEIS supports this project.
Local involvement: The power of ownership
By actively involving residents and businesses, the benefits of these sustainable projects stay within the community, this is one of the key pillars. This can lead to lower energy costs and investments in local infrastructure. Steenergie thus wants to show that the energy transition not only contributes to a greener environment, but also directly benefits the region.
Two key initiatives
The cooperative has an initiative for a wind farm consisting of four modern wind turbines in the area between Blankenham and Kuinre in the municipality of Steenwijkerland called Windpark Blauw and an initiative consisting of four wind turbines near industrial area Groot Verlaat called Windpark Geel. The province of Overijssel is the competent authority for coordinating the possible development of this wind farm. A request in principle has been made to the province of Overijssel to decide whether the province is prepared to grant planning permission for (one of) the wind farms.
